I’m John Allen, and TennisOx was born from a lifetime of tennis and the friendships it creates. My first hit was on a village grass court in Dorset at about the age of 12, inspired by early visits to Wimbledon. Since then, wherever life and work have taken me — London, Auckland, Tokyo, Dublin — I’ve found my way to a local club. Tennis has always given me more than matches: it has given me community and connection
When I retired from business in 2020, I finally had time to play more, to travel more, and to think about what I really wanted from the game. I realised my best memories weren’t only on the court. They were the evenings after play, the conversations over dinner, the friendships that lasted long after the tennis was over.
That’s the spirit behind TennisOx: to design trips where tennis is the spark, but the real value is the community that forms around it.
The Vision
TennisOx isn’t just about going on a trip. It’s about belonging to something — a group of people who share the same enthusiasm for tennis, travel, and discovery.
Each retreat brings people together: to play, to explore, to share meals and stories. And afterwards, to stay connected. The idea is to build a circle of friends who look forward to seeing each other again — whether that’s on a clay court in Rome, a resort in Greece, or over coffee back home.
We want TennisOx to feel like a community you’re always part of, not just a one time holiday.
Stay Connected
We’re just getting started. More retreats are planned, and every trip is a chance to strengthen the friendships at the heart of TennisOx.
If this vision resonates with you, We’d love you to join us. Sign up for early access to upcoming retreats — and be part of a community where tennis and travel come together.
